Monday Meet & Greet

Hello and welcome to @eastmillhomebakery!

My name is Katie and I am a minister’s wife, teacher, and, in my spare time, an avid baker. I love baking because of the comfort, cheer, and community it spreads, whether it’s baking with family, bringing food to get-togethers, baking for weddings, or simply making a “happy” to brighten someone’s day.

I haven’t always been gluten-free, but after some health scares and a probable celiac diagnosis in my late 20s, I made the switch to gluten-free, dairy-free, and egg-free baking. It has been a challenge and a learning process, but I am enjoying the journey! And I have found that there is a great supportive community in the gluten-free, food-sensitivity friendly baking world. ❤️

    Hi Katie! I’m gluten-free too. I grew up baking with my mother but when forced to change the way I ate and cooked thought I would never figure out gluten-free baking. The recipes I found were difficult and confusing using expensive and rather exotic ingredients. Over the years I have figured out my substitutions not only for flour but eggs, fat, and sugar as well and enjoy baking again.
